Tpr. Frederick Dean, formerly of the Royal Armoured Corps, served with No. No.6 Commando from, at least, 5th June 1944.

Tpr. Frederick Dean was reported as being Killed in Action (KIA) on Sword Beach on 6th June 1944, aged 25 years.

He was the son of John and Annie Dean, of Wigan, Lancashire, and was laid to rest in Hermanville War Cemetery (Calvados, France). Grave 1.J.11.

The inscription on his headstone reads:

‘May the joys, he missed on life’s journey. Be found, in the Kingdom of Heaven.’
